Jessica Lawley is a Soprano from Derbyshire under the tutelage of Anne Mason. She recently completed her Master of Arts with distinction at the David Seligman Opera School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD), where she was a recipient of the Phillipa and David Seligman Award for excellence. Jessica previously graduated with a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Music and Master of Performance with distinction at the Royal College of Music (RCM), and is also a Samling Artist. She is looking forward to joining the National Opera Studio as a 2026/27 Young Artist.
In 2026 Jessica covered Female Chorus in Hampstead Garden Opera’s production of The Rape of Lucretia. She will be singing Servilia in La Celemenza di Tito and Verveine in Viradot’s Le Dernier Sorcier as well as Chorus in La Traviata at Buxton International Festival. Jessica was an Alvarez Young Artist at Garsington Opera in summer 2024, where she played First Bridesmaid and covered Barbarina in their revival production of Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as performing the role of Barbarina in the Opera First production. Her other operatic roles include Monica in Menotti’s The Medium (RWCMD); Donna Elvira Don Giovanni (RWCMD); Donna Ximena Gazzaniga’s Don Giovanni Tenorio(RCM); Charity Taylor in the UK premier of Libby Larsen’s Barnum’s Bird (RCM); Frou-Frou in Die Lustige Witwe (RCM); Cybelle and cover Venus Orphée aux enfers (RCM, performed in English).
Roles performed in opera scenes include Anne Trulove The Rake’s Progress (RWCMD); Magda La rondine (RWCMD); Adina L’elisir d’amore (RWCMD); Euridice Orfeo ed Euridice (RCM); Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro (RCM); Dalinda Ariodante (RCM); Tolomeo in Graun’s Cleopatra e Cesare (RCM). Her concert work as a soloist includes Brahm’s Ein Deutsches Requiem; Mozart’s C Minor Mass and Requiem; Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music; Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
